Oscar and Emmy award winner Phil Tippett is the visual effects supervisor and producer whose over 30 year career has created some of the most iconic characters in sci-fi history. His early film crew work and stop motion animation creations include the fish for PIRANHA (1978)...the AT-AT Walkers and tauntauns for THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (1980)...Jabba the Hutt for RETURN OF THE JEDI (1984)...the ED-209 robot for ROBOCOP (1986) and many...many...more. When he left ILM (Industrial Light and Magic) and created his own visual effects company...TIPPETT STUDIO...he was in very high demand...not only did he supervise 50 shots for JURASSIC PARK (1993) but he is still active in his field today as his current work on JURASSIC WORLD : FALLEN KINGDOM (2018) can attest. Back in 1995 Tippett Studio was hired to create the giant, hostile alien arachnids for Paul Verhoeven's STARSHIP TROOPERS (1997). This unworn vintage XL film crew shirt from 1995 predates the premiere of the movie by two years...making it the earliest and oldest from this movie ever listed for sale on this site. According to TIPPETT STUDIO this 25 year old gem was the very 1ST shirt created for this franchise!!! It has a vibrant large beautiful colorful logo depicting the aliens on the back and VFX company logo being attacked by an alien arachnid on the front. This unworn shirt has a few very tiny age spots directly on the shoulder seam (5th photo). This does not detract from the overall look of the shirt but mentioned for full disclosure. But no yellow sweat stains...or logo fading...or logo cracking...or pilling (those big giant balls of fabric due to rubbing and frequent washing) ...or holes...from previous use. This collectible...in this condition...in this size...is beyond rare. This is a definite must have for fans of this cult franchise and sci-fi movie historians everywhere.
