    Description

NGC authenticated major mint error. The NGC label identifies it as 90 percent silver and weighing 26.7 grams. This fits the silver dollars the U.S. Mint issued from 1935 and earlier. It is the Type 2 blank planchet because it made it through the process that produces the upturned edge. After that it never was struck and finished to produce the silver dollar it was intended to be. It passed through any points of inspection and made it out to the bank before it was seen and saved as major mint error. Major errors are always rarer on larger denomination coins because they are more easily seen than would be the case on any smaller denomination. Rare and sought after collectible mint error.1
