Description
Original Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Syracuse Mimbreño #5 plate, with round edge. Mimbreño dinnerware was inspired by the thousand-year-old pottery art of the ancient Mimbres Indians of Southwestern New Mexico culture. The iconic Mimbreño dinnerware pattern designs were adapted by Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter, one of this country’s earliest woman architects and was originally served in the Super Chief dining cars on the Santa Fe railroad beginning in 1937. The center mountain goat design is pure delight. This neat piece is 7 5/8” in diameter and it shows the usual signs of use. It is stamped with the Old Ivory Syracuse China emblem followed by “Made Expressly For Santa Fe Dining Car Service” and the code U-2 which means it was made in February 1940. This is right out of page 62 of the “Mimbres to Mimbreño” book and is a great addition for any western china collection. If it doesn't meet your expectations, return for a full refund, less shipping.
