Up for sale is a unique but very useful overdrive pedal by Ernie Ball....the Expression Overdrive!
This is a very interesting concept for effects pedals, but it is not some lame gimmick.  It is a great and practical idea that works great in actual application !
As the name implies, you engage the overdrive by pushing down the expressional pedal from the top most position of the treadle.  The farther down you depress the pedal, the more drive you engage. Simple in it's use, but opens up a new world of possibilities with your sound !
Similarly, backing off the drive from the down most toe position with your heel backs down the amount of gain, just like it would if you rolled off the volume on your guitar.  The difference is, that this pedal does NOT roll off your high end like your guitar knob does !  On top of that, if you do want to shelve off some treble frequencies, the pedal's onboard tone knob will serve that purpose!  It can also add high end as well, if that is what you would like to do ! Many capabilities with this unit not available with your traditional drive pedal!
There is also a boost control, so you can set this pedal to unity gain along different points of the expression pedal's travel.  The total volume boost is 6dB according to the manufacturer.
So many options and capabilities with this relatively simple but forward thinking effect !
