- We always provide the label size and the measurements (where possible) - label sizes vary greatly from brand to brand so while you may take one size in one label, in another brand you may require a larger or smaller size, so don't rely on label sizes alone. Also, vintage sizing tends to be a lot smaller than today's sizes, so you will probably take at least one or two sizes bigger. The measurements provided are taken with the garment lying
flat
on the floor, fastened. They are the actual measurements of the garment and not the measurements of the person it will fit. You need to double across the body measurements to compare to your own, e.g. if a garment has a 26" armpit to armpit measurement, this means that the coat has a 52" chest, and will be a suitable fit for someone with around a 42"-44" chest - you need to allow a little room for movement, comfort and other layers. Also it is
advisable to compare ourmeasurementsagainstyour own clothes that you wear every day, that way youwill feel more confident when buying something.
If you like abaggy fit, you need to allow more space, so bear this in mind when selecting a garment (and vice versa if you want a tight fit).
