CANADIAN PACIFIC (CPR) - as marked on silver lid - glass water carafe

$ 29.56

Availability: 100 in stock
  • Country/Region of Manufacture: Canada
  • All returns accepted: ReturnsNotAccepted
  • Condition: Fine used condition. Glass is unmarked, and hand-crafted, so there are some very small flaws & irregularities in the glass (but nothing is broken). The small bubbles in the glass are inherent in the manufacturing process.The silver plating is well worn. I've had this for about 50 years now, and I tried my best to polish it up, but what you see is about the best I could do. But the top of the lid still proudly and clearly displays the CPR logo. For prestigious display, you might want to have it re-silvered.

    Description

    Very nice water carafe / pot from Canadian Pacific, one of a kind from me.   I got this approximately 50 years ago, when I visited the Toronto commissaries of both CN and CP, and ended up with some nice mementoes, this being one of them.
    The carafe comes with a semi-matching protective "cozy" or jacket, made apparently out of an old CP bathing towel, and one can read the lettering in the material, part of the word CANADIAN.  The carafe is yellowed with age, as you'll see in the photos.  I tried washing it but it didn't lighten up.
    The silver is definitely well-worn.  I tried 2x to polish it up a little better, but this is what I could get it to.  Note that the lid has some kind of pock-marks, so the silver has seen better days, for sure.  The maker's marks are at the very ends of the collar that holds the lid on the top.  One end identifies the maker as A.T. WILEY CO., Ld., of Montreal.  The other end is marked as being "ELKINGTON PLATE".  See closeup photos in the set supplied. The collar and the lid fit together quite loosely, as is illustrated in one of the photos.  Always has been that way while I've had it.
    As a reminder, the marking(s) are only on the silver;  the glass carafe itself is entirely "plain-Jane", and unmarked.
    If sold to a buyer outside the U.S., I'll need to declare full details for the customs shipment, and additional fees will apply for the time & expenses entailed.  Please do not ask me to state some kind of a lower value -- I can only sell this legitimately, and any customs fees at your end will be your responsibility.
    Local pickup (Los Angeles area) is free.
