The HM-2 Heavy Metal is the first metal distortion pedal in the BOSS pedal series, introduced in October 1983.
•The HM-2 Heavy Metal sound
The HM-2 incorporates an evolved version of the asymmetrical clipping circuit that made the OD-1 OverDrive so popular, giving it a wide dynamic range and a sound with little loss of sound level despite its heavy distortion.
The deep, sinking long sustain and the sonic pressure of a large amp are very appealing!
The L and H knobs on the central two COLOR MIX controls are the low (Low) and high (High) tone circuits respectively.
Flat at 12 o'clock, COLOR MIX L boosts and cuts around 100Hz, while COLOR MIX H boosts and cuts around 1KHz.
