The four and five stars in the upper right corner represent 45 RANS, the designers of the patch and the military squadron that conducts the vehicle and public launch safety operations for Cape Canaveral missions. Almost hidden but still found within the rolling colors of Mars are the memories of the previous Mars missions, for which the Perseverance and Ingenuity will follow. Also depicted are the trusted and well known NASA vector and worm, as well as the ancient symbol for Mars that sits between between “Mars” and “2020” along the bottom rim. In the center sits an Atlas V rocket in its 541 configuration. And finally, in the  top right floats the white lotus. The white lotus is a symbol of something’s purity, regardless of origin. It signifies our potential for growth and success in spite of where we come from and the difficulties we face. It construes our perseverance in the face of adversity. It signifies a drive for enlightenment, for learning. It represents our missions to Mars as scientific endeavors for learning and becoming the best parts of the human race.
A faithful recreation of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory's second insignia for the Mars 2020 mission, introduced in March 2020. The insignia is a simple red circle with a depiction of the Perseverance rover build with simple square blocks, alongside a star shining in the sky or the helicopt Ingenuity in flight. The Mars 2020 mission is intended to be the successor to the Mars Science Laboratory mission, which has operated the Curiosity rover on Mars since its launch in 2011. Perseverence will land in Jezero crater to study the past environment of Mars using scientific instruments specialised in studying soil and materials on Jezero's delta, which once saw large flows of water pass through millions of years ago.    On the attached photo is the artwork on the rocket's payload fairing showing the large red circle with the rover.  Enjoy showing this to your friends, family and co-workers.
